James “Big Game Jay” McCormick: 2009 American League Baseball Preview

Best Team in AL – New York Yankees
<br>

Let’s just go down the list: CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, a healthy Chien Ming Wang followed by Andy Pettite and Joba Chamberlain will take this team back to the playoffs and into the World Series. Jorge Posada is healthy again and will catch 110-120 games and Hideki Matsui is back from an injury-plagued year and he’ll be playing for a contract next year. 2B Robinson Cano has a lot to prove and will do so. Mark Teixera brings professional, tremendous presence at the plate and a gold glove first baseman. Add a the ageless future Hall of Famer, Mariano Rivera, bullpen depth and SP Phil Hughes waiting for his turn to make believers out of the Yankee brass and this team is stacked. We didn’t even mention the games second best player coming back in May or June, Alex Rodriguez.

Worst Team in AL – Seattle Mariners

8 Famous (Or Infamous) Fans Who Stood Out From The Crowd

1. Bobby Murcer’s Biggest Fan read full story

Our first story has a fairy-tale middle and a horrible ending. In August of ‘77, Bobby Murcer of the Cubs promised to hit a home run for terminally ill fan Scott Crull. That night, Murcer hit two of them. Pretty amazing, especially when you consider Murcer only hit nine homers the whole next season. But that’s not why Crull – a 12-year-old from Calumet City, Illinois, with bone cancer – makes this list.

Broadcasting the game nationally on ABC, Keith Jackson told the country how Murcer had fulfilled the dying boy’s last wish. Eyes watered, spines tingled. There was only one problem – nobody had ever told the boy he was dying. His parents were horrified. Three weeks later, Crull passed away.

2. The Good Luck Charmers

Every sport has its own strange traditions. I’d argue hockey’s “throwing an octopus on the ice for good luck” is the weirdest. Tossing the eight-tentacled

Information about Columbus Blue Jackets

The blue jackets were a young team founded in 2000 but unfortunately does not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs until the year of 2009. In year 1978 Cleveland and Barons left Ohio and nobody is expecting that it would take 22 long years before another NHL team would be welcomed in the state. It was only on year 1997 when the NHL declared that there will be a new franchise for the Columbus; because of the May 31 announcements from the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company that says that they will foot the bill for a new 0-million arena in Columbus.

The logo of the blue jackets originated in Ohio’s rich Civil War history and this would mean the patriotism, and pride of Ohio. In the term of service of President Abraham Lincoln he asked Ohio to have ten regiments at the outbreaks of the civil war and they managed to form a 23 volunteer infantry regiments.

The logo of the blue jackets is a version of the flag of Ohio that is styled and was used

Preview of the New York Rangers 2007-2008 Season.

Welcoming Immigrants to America for More Than a Century

She’s one of the country’s most recognized women and she has aged gracefully since her arrival in 1886. Lighting the way for immigrants, visitors, and travelers, the Statue of Liberty was presented to the United States by France in commemoration of the country’s centennial and as a gesture of friendship from France. Student group travelers who make the journey to see her are rewarded with a new sense of citizenship and pride.

Standing at Liberty Island, the statue has served as the ultimate symbol of a new life, freedom, and opportunity for all who have gazed upon her. From 1886 until the early 1950′s, she was often one of the first glimpses of the United States for millions of immigrants when their voyage from Europe arrived in New York.

Sculpted by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, funds for the construction of the Statue of Liberty were raised through the sale of miniatures. Dressed in a robe and a halo of seven-point spiked rays, the

Travel Pre and Post Internet

Title: Travel: Pre and Post Internet.

By: The Nomad

Travel Pre Internet:

I’ve been travelling for over 40 years – by thumb in my early days, by boots in the Scouts, a Lambretta came next and then my first old banger followed by newer old bangers to the beaches of the Costa Brava.

My thumb, boots, bikes and bangers took me all over Europe and the UK before finding that a charter flight to Spain on an old ‘Connie’ could get me to the beaches and bars a lot quicker and allow more time to enjoy the local travel opportunities by horse and cart and the occasional bus and train.

‘Go West and Prosper’ seemed to be a good idea so instead of taking an 8 hour flight I took an 8 day transatlantic crossing from Tilbury to Montreal on the Stephan Batory of Polish Ocean Lines ensuring that jet lag did not trouble my travel plans. Some years later I crossed the pond again on a ship but this time it was 5 times

The History Of Hockey Town

In Hockey Town, there’s only one team to root for — the Detroit Red Wings. The team currently resides just a luxury sedan or limo ride away at Joe Louis Arena, located in downtown Detroit. Here are some team historical highlights:

1920s – The Red Wings go all the way back to the old Western Hockey League, when the Victoria (British Columbia) Cougars were sold to a group from Detroit on September 25, 1926. The team played its home games in Windsor, Ontario. The Victoria Cougars had won the Stanley Cup in 1925 and were Cup finalists in 1926, but the Detroit Cougars finished 12-28-4; the NHL’s worst record for the 1926-27 season.

Help came in 1928, in the form of Jack Adams as the team’s coach and general manager. Adam’s tenure as coach and GM would last until the 1962-63 season, when Sid Abel took over. With Adams at the helm, the team made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

The team also moved into
